Redefining piano lessons in Chicago... The piano department at NMS aims to deliver the finest piano lessons in Chicago and suburbs by presenting repertoire and technique in new and exciting directions. Instruction is offered in the classical, jazz, and popular genres, and parents can choose from either Traditional or Suzuki piano methods. From the first day of lessons an emphasis is placed on rhythm, ear training, and note reading. Students continue through the piano curriculum learning significant repertoire, all the while addressing the fundamentals necessary for all levels of performance in the future. New Music School piano students also learn how the piano relates to all the fine arts by working with renowned professional vocalists, dancers, artists, and actors. Finally, our piano students are also exposed to artist teachers through master classes with internationally known pianists along with the opportunity to attend other instructional master classes. Jonathan Corey Junior Faculty NMS Piano Faculty As a piano teacher at New Music School, Jonathan Corey provides each of his students with a unique, creative, and well-rounded musical education. From the first lesson, Jonathan encourages his students to discover their own musical personality by integrating creative improvisation, a strong foundation of technical proficiency, weekly compositions, and music theory into each lesson. He strives to be flexible in his approach to teaching while maintaining a disciplined trajectory; Jonathan believes that teaching creatively includes pursuing the musical interests of his students while always building up the technical skill required to give each student the opportunity to create sounds as they imagine. Jonathan has been teaching piano lessons for six years, four years during his time at Oberlin Conservatory, and two years following at community music schools. He has experience preparing students for medals in MMTA competitions as well as helping young children begin their first experiences with music. Jonathan was awarded the Music Teachers National Association STAR Award which recognizes outstanding new talent in the field of piano pedagogy. Jonathan was educated at the Commonwealth School in Boston and then later at Oberlin Conservatory of Music where he majored in piano performance. Jonathan won 1st prize at the annual MMTA competition four years in a row and has performed at Carnegie Hall's Weill Hall. Our piano lessons are held at our downtown Chicago school, at satellite locations, and in our students' homes - both in the city and suburbs, including Lake Forest, Highland Park, Glenview, Deerfield, Oak Park, River Forest, Downers Grove, and Wheaton. Supporting Acts: Tegan and Sara, New Found Glory, Kadawatha At Merriweather Post Pavilion - Paramore Although their spunky blend of emo-pop and anthemic rock eventually made them stars on both sides of the Atlantic, Paramore began humbly enough in Franklin, TN, where lead singer Hayley Williams met brothers Josh and Zac Farro after moving to town from Mississippi. The two Farros had a band that the 13 year-old singer was asked to join, and guitarist Jason Bynum and bassist Jeremy Davis soon climbed aboard to complete Paramore's lineup. Local hangouts and a school talent show helped the young bandmembers hone their chops before graduating to higher-level gigs at area rock clubs. The quintet's pop-influenced melodies and earnest charisma -- not to mention Williams' powerhouse vocals -- eventually caught the attention of Florida's Fueled by Ramen label, which signed the band in April 2005. Working with producers James Wisner and Mike Green, Paramore recorded their full-length debut, All We Know Is Falling, and released it in late July 2005. In addition to a performance at New Jersey's Bamboozle Festival and multiple dates on the Warped Tour circuit, Paramore played shows with such bands as Simple Plan and Straylight Run. Hunter Lamb replaced Bynum on guitar in December 2005, and the band spent the following summer on Warped Tour once again, cementing their relationship with fans who had caught the previous summer's shows. Lamb parted ways with the group in early 2007 to get married, and Paramore continued onward as a quartet. Last summer I came up with a bunch of different ideas for a novel that I wanted to write. Then I got busy with a new job, school, and a few other things and never got around to doing much with any of my ideas. I am now ready to start my novel and I need help choosing which idea to use. I'm not worried if you like the names or not (sorry), but I do want to know what you think about each concept. I'll try to keep each description brief. 1) To most people, sixteen year old, Avery Dawson appeared to have everything she could ever want. However, at the beginning of summer she found herself with a scatterbrained mother, a new overbearing step-father, an annoying nine year old brother and sister, and a boyfriend who she’d caught cheating on her with her closest friend. Needing a break, Avery takes her Aunt Nina up on the offer of spending the summer on the West Coast. Avery isn’t planning on making any new friends and she certainly isn’t planning on falling in love but both happen when she meets Holland Kingsley, the first girl that Avery feels ever understood her, and Fisher Jackson, a boy whose has a beautiful heart. 2) Kacee Tavern is a fifteen year old girl who lives in the small town of Sueno , New Mexico with her father Isaac and their dog Delko. Kacee’s mother Juanita left when Kacee was eight. Kacee has spent the first part of her summer and every summer before that trying to get the attention of the very popular, Evan Young. Then one day Kacee meets Gianna Willis and they instantly become friends even though her other friends, Isabel and Destiny, do not approve. Kacee also begins to fall for Gianna’s older brother Nolan. 3) Sixteen year old Wren Whitley lives with her grandmother Grammy, her brother Colby, and her four year old niece Sadie. Wren begins her summer dealing with several family issues, but soon finds a distraction from everything going wrong in her life when she meets wealthy Mr. George Barry’s grandson, Tanner Barry. **NOTE: In case you need to know her family issues, they include A) Wren's mother leaving and not having anything to do with Eden (Wren's older sister), Colby (Wren's older brother), and Wren their entire lives, B) Papa dying, C) Eden getting pregnant and having Sadie, D) Eden running away just like their mother did, & E) Wren's uncle Jesse is very sick. 4) Seventeen year old Carlin Gayle has been doing beauty pageants since she was 5 months old, and has won countless titles. Carlin has put pageantry before everything else her entire life. The only person who might love Carlin’s pageantry more than Carlin, is her mother, Deborah. As she is getting ready for the Little Miss America Pageant, for those under 18 years of age, she is determined to stay focused and win, especially since Laurel Winters isn‘t competing this year. However, things don’t go according to plan, especially when Carlin meets Otto Wilson, a guitarist who finds pageants to be shallow and stupid. Just as Carlin is beginning to second guess her involvement in pageants she finds out that Otto’s sister Ashley is her biggest competition in the upcoming pageant and she questions Otto's motives about getting her out of pageantry. 5) Beth Corey was 15 years old when she found out she was adopted. If that wasn’t enough, she finds out her birth mother has recently been released from prison and wants to get to know Beth. A year later while Beth struggles to find where her new relationship with her mother fits in with the family she’s always called hers, she also has to choose between two great guys, Matt the skater, and Ian the photographer, both who have her heart. 6) Violet Keeble has spent the last 17 years of her life trying to live up to her older sister Camille. Camille is super athletic, super smart, and stunningly gorgeous. Then Violet meets Drew Washman. Drew is trying to live down the reputation of his older brother Warren who has been in and out of prison the past 4 years. Violet and Drew help each other realize that they neither one have to be their sibling, they just need to be themselves. 7) Eighteen year old Paige Lilley has just graduated from high school and is looking forward to starting college and a whole new life in general. The one thing that Paige isn’t anticipating is getting caught in a risky love triangle during the summer before her new life starts. It all starts when Paige meets college student Blaine Michaels and assures him she has recently broken up with her high school sweetheart of 2 and a half years, Steven O’Hara. She knows a split is inevitable, they are going to different colleges and they neither one are too crazy about long distance relationships, right? Didn’t they discuss it at a party or something? The truth is that she hasn’t broke up with Steven yet and when she tries, she can’t bring herself to do it. But that’s okay, isn’t it? She’s only got 3 months til she leaves for college. As the summer goes on Paige finds herself surprised by, how serious Steven is about making their relationship work, and that she is falling in love with Blaine. 8) Fifteen year old Ophelia Randall and her older sister Fiona used to be really close. However, recently Fiona has been acting strange, and it all started when she started dating Roman Ellis. As Ophelia tries to find out what is causing her sister to act so strange, she meets sixteen year old Ben Forrest. Ophelia falls in love with sweet and kind Ben, but soon Ben’s mother Kathy, who has been sick with cancer, passes away. At first, Ben seems like the same sweet and kind Ben, only a little sadder, but then Ben starts to get upset with Ophelia over the littlest things. Then he begins to hit Ophelia when he gets angry. Ophelia lets it slide because she thinks this is his way of dealing with his grief. On top of all of this, Ophelia finds out about Fiona’s drug problem, but Fiona says she will run away if Ophelia mentions it to their parents. Ophelia has to decide if she should tell anyone about Ben or Fiona. **NOTE: I don't want this to sound to "Dreamland by Sarah Dessen"-ish. Ideas?

Answer: Sorry, the only name that caught my eye was Britney Spears. I am a huge fan of her! Right now, my favorite song has to be Everytime. It's a ballad, but she just sounds so real in that song. I also love her songs from the Circus album, especially Unusual You and If U Seek Amy. I also like her older songs, like Hit Me Baby One More Time, Oops!...I Did it Again, Stronger, Toxic, etc. I also found some unreleased songs, and my favorite is Mona Lisa. It's very creepy, yet so addicting. Also, I suggest listening to Carrie Underwood, Jordin Sparks, and Kelly Clarkson! They all have amazing voices, but I prefer Carrie's voice and music.

My best friend hannah is in love with her best guy friend, and he really likes her too. problem is, they're both too scared to ruin the friendship they've formed over the past few years to go out. they're honestly perfect for each other, and they've been their for each other forever. These feelings have been occurring between the two of them for a few months, but in the last few days hannah has called me in tears, because she loves corey(the boy) so much. she randomly starts crying at school for him, and i know how much she cares about him, and how much he cares about her, because he tells me how bad he feels for making her feel that way. he's told me that he loves her, but he doesn't know if he should tell her because he is scared about their friendship. only this morning, i noticed when Hannah's jacket sleeve fell up, that she's got cuts all over her arm, and the word 'Corey' cut into her arm. as soon as i asked about it, she changed the subject. i don't know if i should tell corey or not; i know this isn't really my problem, but i honestly need to help my best friend. corey means the world to her. she means the world to corey. please help. thanks.

Answer: Well let them be toghether, you 3 should go out down town or something together. Tell him to ask her, thats if you are also good friends with him, that will make her VERY happy. Then once they have gotten comfortable, you should skip out, and make an excuse.. Ask your friend if this is ok first though , okay. Good Luck!

You asked me to make more, so I'll keep doing it until someone tells me it was the worst thing they've ever done. xD. 1: You are 22, coming home from college for the weekend. You meet up with the boy you talked to in high school. Two weeks later you find out your a pregnant. You call him, and he wants nothing to do with you. You go over to his house (once again) and you ask him "Are you going to be in our son's life?" He says "I don't think..." And you slap him. Your son is born a week later, and you name him something meaningful to you. Your son has curly red hair, freckles, and dark brown eyes. The only way the dad sees his son now are through pictures on facebook/myspace, if he cares enough to look. 2: When your son is two years old, you decide to move to new york. You and your son get on a plane, where you hold his hand. You move to a small house in the country, outside of New York City. You are walking down Time Square, holding your sons hand, when a tall man with dark black hair and sparkling grey eyes approaches you. His name is _________. You walk for awhile, and then he asks you on a date. Within 6 months of dating him, you become pregnant with your second child. Another boy! He looks just like his daddy. His name must start with a D. And he must have two middle names. 3: When your first born son finally starts to talk, (after a speech impediment) He calls your husband, his step-father, "Dada". You send papers for your husband to legally adopt your first born son, but his dad back home refuses to sign them. You don't make him pay child support because you don't want his money; but you threaten to make him pay, sign the papers, or get in his son's life, and he signs the papers. A few months after that you become pregnant again. With another little boy. You decide to name him Corey, it means "God's peace." And you knew that God gave you this baby because you had won the battle, and now your family was complete. His middle name must start with an A-L. 4: All Your kids beg you for a dog, and you finally give in. You get a bigger dog; because you have a lot of space for it to run. What kind of dog? For my daughter's 2nd birthday, I bought her a Tetra 5 gallon hexagon tank and haven't had much luck keeping fish alive. I've been getting a high nitrate reading on these test strips some lovely lady sold me from Petsmart. Recently bought a Corey catfish and it died today. Lasted less than one month. Was hoping he would eat some of the crap off the bottom and clean it up. Two Sunstar Platties died last week when I stirred up the gravel to clean it. I've tried salt, Stress Zyme, Clearwater, etc to try and get the nitrate level down and the only thing that worked was changing 1/2 the water last week because all the fish died except the catfish. On Sunday, we bought 3 Guppies to see how they'd do. I noticed they were swimming very near the top which I heard means the water is not good. Does anyone have any suggestions? If the Guppies don't last, I'm switching to hermit crabs...
