Touchdown IowaJon Lafleur The Betty Strong Encounter Center is now showing "Touchdown Iowa!" The exhibition comprises 53 Hawkeye football images shot by Sioux City photographer Bob Rasmus from 1985 to 2008. Among the glimpses of Hawkeye history is quarterback Chuck Long, 1985 Heisman Trophy runner-up and Iowa s all-time leading passer. Rasmus shot the picture at the 1986 Rose Bowl. "Touchdown Iowa!" shows running back Shonn Greene, 2008 Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year. Greene was first team All-American. He scored the most rushing touchdowns in a season in Hawkeye history, with more than 100 yards rushing in every 2008 game. Hawkeyes from Sioux City high schools figure into the exhibition with defensive lineman Jon Lafleur, Bishop Heelan (1993) who started from 1993 to 1997; Dave Croston, East High (1982) an offensive tackle from 1982 to1986, and former National Football League (NFL) player for the Green Bay Packers; and Zeron Flemister, West High (1995) who was tight end from 1995 to 1999. Flemister went on to play in the NFL. Rasmus interest in photography took root in his youth. The retired Sioux City orthodontist was born in Canby, Minn., grew up in Slayton, Minn., and spent his last year of high school in Le Mars, Iowa. He played high school sports, including football, before enrolling in University of Iowa. He enjoyed the competition, but always was more interested in photographing the action. Throughout his undergraduate education, dental school training, military service and post-graduate training in orthodontics, Rasmus maintained his love for photography. After settling into life in Sioux City with his wife, Kaye, and their daughter, Emily, his sports photography work began in earnest. Since 1980, he s been at home or on the road shooting games mainly for Morningside College, Creighton University, the Sioux City Relays and his alma mater, University of Iowa. His work has been carried by print and digital media, including The Sioux City Journal. He s done cover work for Sporting News. Whatever sport Rasmus is shooting, his work is always about telling the story. "The story doesn t have to be a game-winning touchdown. It can be a profile of an individual player. But there s always a story. That s what I want to show with my work," he says. "Touchdown Iowa!" stories emerge with a wide range of players, including tight end Dallas Clark, an All-American in 2002; and winner of the 2002 John Mackey Award, given to the nation s best tight end. Clark leads the NFL s tight ends in receiving. Wide receiver Tim Dwight stands out as Iowa s all-time leading receiver and punt/kick-off returner. The former NFL player set Super Bowl records in kick-off and punt returns. "Touchdown Iowa!" honors legendary Hawkeye coaches and College Football Hall of Fame inductees, including Larry Station, All-American defensive leader on Iowa s 1985 Big Ten Championship team. Station is Iowa s all-time leading tackler, leading in tackling all four years. "Touchdown Iowa!" was edited and printed under the direction of Fr. Don Doll, S.J. and Carole McCabe, of Magis Productions, Creighton University. Fr. Doll is the Center s photo consultant. Player data was researched and written by Brent Wojcik and Alec Henry; text by Marcia Poole; graphics by Pat Osborne; and installation by Mike McCormick.

Leonard Marshall and William BendetsIn the long and illustrious history of Big Apple sports, few teams are more memorable or beloved than the 1990 Super Bowl-champion New York Giants. A roster filled with emerging stars and wily veterans, coached by future legends Bill Parcells and Bill Belichick, stormed through the regular season, conquered two elite franchises in the postseason, and then won the NFL title in one of the most unforgettable championship games in football history.
Super Bowl History questions & answers
I'm not hating or anything. I'm getting annoyed. The Cowboys are indeed a very good team, but everyone keeps on saying this is their year. What's even annoying is that a lot of people and ESPN experts are talking about how they are going to make history by being the first team to play a Super Bowl in their home. And Dez Bryant. He hasn't played a single down yet, but everyone is saying that he will be a major piece for them this year. And not to mention that there are other teams in the NFC that will be tough to take down. The Packers, Saints, Vikings (With Favre), and maybe the Niners are all up there. I have a feeling the Niners will make a deep run if Aliz Smith can take his game up a little. He was decent last year. If he can improve on the interceptions, then the Niners will be dangerous. Anyway, everyone needs to wait until the season starts before giving anyone the Super Bowl victory.
Answer: I agree with you in a way. But its part of sports. And also a lot of there fans are arrogant and rude, and they think they are better than everyone else is because they are fans of the Cowboys. I remember I went to a Eagles @ Dallas game back in 2004 (the year the Eagles went to the SB [and lost]), that was when we destroyed them 49-21. And being one of the few Eagle fans there they were throwing cups and food containers at me and other Eagles fans and what not thinking they are better than you and everyone else. Ever since then, I promised myself that I would not go through that shit ever again and I would not go to another Dallas home game. Also another thing is that they have 5 SB rings, last one came in '95. The Steelers have 6 SB rings, most of any NFL team, two came within 3 years of each other this past decade. And I hear more Dallas fans brag about their 5 more than I hear Pitt brag about their 6. Also Dallas fans brag about going to the SB 8 times, but yet going to the SB means shit unless you win it. But than again, its sports, your going to have teams favored more than others and your going to have others hated more than others. You have the Lakers, Yankees, and Cowboys....but the Yankees buy their championships just like Dallas did when they were great. Now they are just good, better than average. Also Tony Romo isnt going to win the MVP this year or ever, no matter what ESPN analysts say. And he will think "Ohh cool the SB is in Dallas this year, if we go to the SB this year we will be the first team to play a SB in the city of the team."...and then he will choke. And they will lose in either Wildcard or Divisional rounds.
How bad do you feel for Cleveland sports?
The Indians haven't won a World Series in 62 years, the second longest drought in baseball. The Browns are one of four NFL teams never to have played in a Super Bowl. The Cavaliers have never won a title in their 40 year history. They finally get possibly the greatest player ever, and then he leaves them. How bad do you feel for Cleveland?
Answer: :-( I'm rooting for them this year. That's really all I can say...I can't even imagine what they have to go through. I hope the Cavs win it all without LeBron next year. Go Indians/Browns/Cavaliers!
Which Seattle Seahawks team was better 1983 or 2005?
This is a simple question of opinion for any NFL or Seattle Seahawk fan, which Seahawks team was more superior, the 1983 Seattle Seahawks under Chuck Knox that led us to our first AFC Championship appearence and one of the most balanced offenses in our franchise history, along with QB Dave Kreig and WR Steve Largent we had one of the most prolific pass happy seasons that was still balanced out by the amazing runs of RB Curt Warner, we made it to the AFC Championship because of how Seattle made teams turn the ball over however we were not able to defeat the Los Angeles Raiders for a 3rd time in one season and we fell to them in the Championship game, however most think this was the best Seahawks team in franchise history. or Was the 2005 Seattle Seahawks that managed to host the NFC Championship game at home, win it, and make their first ever Super Bowl appearence as well as Shaun Alexander winning MVP under Head Coach Mike Holmgrem, QB Matt Hasselbeck along with WR Darrell Jackson and RB Shaun Alexander became the highest scoring team of their time, it didnt last however because the Patriots beat our record in the almost undefeated season, however our PPG (Points Per Game) average was a staggering 35.5, we would eventually lose to the Pittsburg Steelers, which i can safly say for all Seattle Seahawks fans still somewhat hurt, however the past is past. So which Seattle Seahawks team was the best in franchise history, the 1983 Seahawks or the 2005 Seahawks, i would like to hear your answers and opinions.
Answer: I say the 2005 team, cause they went to the Super Bowl and got cheated out of it..
Greatest 49er of all-time?
Who would you say is the greatest 49er of all-time? Joe Montana- 14 seasons (1979-1992), 4-time Super Bowl Champion (XVI, XIX, XXIII, XXIV), 3-time Super Bowl MVP (SB XVI, XIX, XXIV), 2-time League MVP ('89, '90), Niners all-time leading passer, Greatest QB of all-time, All-time Passing Leader in Super Bowl History. Jerry Rice- 16 seasons- (1985-2000), 3-time Super Bowl Champion (SB XXIII, XXIV, XXIX), Super Bowl MVP (SB XXIII), Niners & NFL All-time Leader in Receiving, 49ers & NFL's All-time Greatest Receiver, All-time Leading Receiver in NFL History.
Answer: Joe Montana. Rice wouldn't hvae all those stats without a great quarterback to hit him on target. Not saying it's all Montana, but if Patrick Ramsey was the quarterback back then, I doubt Rice would have all those accomplishments.
Is this ''Jordan's shadow'' talk ridiculous?
There has been a lot of talk by non-Chicago fans, well mainly Cavs and Knicks fans that Lebron James won't go to the Bulls because it would be too much pressure being in ''Jordan's shadow''. So no superstar player is ever going to play for the Bulls because MJ played there? Even if one did he would be viewed as a failure if he didn't win 7 or more rings because Jordan requires that because we know how great the Bulls have been since 1998 *rolls eyes* and hence Chicago Bulls fans have unrealistically high expectations. According to non-Bulls fans. Lets look at other great/historic basketball teams. Boston Celtics: Larry Bird did not fear Russell's shadow. He was not called a failure for winning 3, not 11 rings. Later on Kevin Garnett, then a superstar, did not fear Bird and Russell's shadows. He won 1 ring, made another NBA final. Is anyone calling him a disappointment? Los Angeles Lakers: Kareem did not fear Wilt's very recent shadow at the same position. Shaq did not fear Kareem's shadow, again at the center position. No one calls Shaq a failure for winning 3 rings as a Laker Kareem's 5. Chicago Bulls: In 2007 when Kobe was on the verge of being traded to the Bulls did he shriek in horror at the foot of Jordan's shadow? Of course not. Those are just a few examples. How about football? San Francisco 49'ers: Steve Young was the DIRECT replacement for Joe Montana. No "12 year shadow by a guy who played another position" crap. Direct replacement. Young won 1 Super Bowl; Montana won 4. No one calls Young a failure because of that. Dallas Cowboys: Were Emmit Smith and Troy Aikman cowering in fear over the 70's Cowboys? Is Romo scared of Aikman and Staubach? Pittsburgh Steelers: Is Big Ben scared of Terry Bradshaw's 4 rings? Green Bay Packers: Again a legend was directly replaced. Did Rodgers crumble under the pressure--especially considering the circumstances--of replacing Favre? Trend: superstars following shadows may not equal the franchise's best player but they tend to do very well in their own right! Can anyone list examples of superstars shying away from historic franchises out of fear of a previous legend's shadow? Thanks in advance. Surely there must be 1 or 2 examples in history... If anything players are more likely to join a team with a winning tradition. Winning there means more and it connects you to past greats. Would you rather win a ring as a Yankee or Ray? A Steeler or a Seahawk? A Celtic or a Net? Steve Young was the DIRECT replacement for Joe Montana. No "12 year shadow by a guy who played another position" crap. Direct replacement. Young won 1 Super Bowl; Montana won 4. No one calls Young a failure because of that. Jordan retired 7 years ago as a Wizard. He is now the owner of the Bobcats. He has not been a Bull since 98'. No one coming to the Bulls would be his direct replacement and no top free agent other than Wade and Joe Johnson even plays his position. There have been direct replacements in the past (Montana/Young and Favre/Rodgers) and close ones (Wilt/Kareem) and cases where they played the same position like Shaq and Kareem. None of these people were afraid of more legit shadows than a retired SG who hasn't been a Bull is over a decade.
Answer: Were in the forefront of getting LeBron. Plus Bosh could be in the package. The top draw for Chicago is the young core, Coach Thibs and the winning tradition that Mike left. Those that talk s-h-i-t are jealous of the near completion of another dynasty team. Hope this helps.

What are your thoughts on the history of the Asia Cups between SL, Ind. PK, BD, HK, UAE whats your say commts?
Asia is only continent with enough number of international cricket teams to consist a proper tournament. it was spotted by Asian cricket council (ACC) in 1983 to promote the game & goodwill and very next year we had it's first edition. India and Sri Lanka have won the cup 4 times untill the 2010 championship while Pakistan have won it only once. Sri Lanka are only team to participate in every single asia cup. We've had two asia cup of test matches as well, won by Pakistan in year 1998 and Sri Lanka in 2001. Here's a brief history :- April 1984 in Sharjah India v Sri Lanka v Pakistan : won by India. Only 3 match triangular, each team played other once, and India (who won both games) were declared winners without there being a final! Mar-Apr 1986 in Sri Lanka Pakistan v Bangladesh v Sri Lanka : won by Sri Lanka. India skipped due to strained relationship with Sri Lanka, Bangladesh joined this second edition of Asia cup cricket which was another triangular tournament (each match of 45 overs) but with a final, between Sri Lanka & Pakistan which hosts won by 5 wickets. Oct-Nov 1988 in Bangladesh India v Pakistan v Sri Lanka v Bangladesh : won by India. A tournament dominated by finalists India and Sri Lanka who both team Bangladesh and Pakistan at league stage but Indians had a better day on final, winning by 6 wickets after bowling out islanders for only 176. December 1990 in India India v Sri Lanka v Bangladesh : won by India Pakistan refused to tour India and hence only 3 teams played, two major ones reached final at Kolkata in which India yet again beat Sri Lanka, this time chasing down 204 with 7 wicket and 17 balls to spare. April 1995 in Sharjah India v Sri Lanka v Pakistan v Bangladesh : won by India Asia cup returned after 5 years (after proposed 1993 edition was canceled due to ill political relationship between India & Pakistan), back to where it all started at Sharjah. Pakistan defeated India by huge margin of 97 runs but lost their way since then, losing to Sri Lanka and failing to reach finals where India, having beaten Bangladesh and Sri Lanka at league stage, beat Lankans once again to claim their 3rd consecutive Asia cup, chasing down 232 with 8 wickets in hand. July 1997 in Sri Lanka Sri Lanka v Bangladesh v Pakistan v India : won by Sri Lanka. Crucial India vs Pakistan match was rained off despite there being a rest day, which cost green team a chance for finals as Indians punished Bangladesh within 15 overs in last league game to improve their net runrate and made it finals against hosts Sri Lanka who chased down 240 to win their second asia cup. May-June 2000 in Bangladesh India v Pakistan v Sri Lanka v Bangladesh : won by Pakistan. An undefeated tournament for Pakistan who won asia cup for the first time, beating Bangladesh by 233 runs, India by 44 runs and Sri Lanka by 7 wickets and again by 39 runs in finals at Bangabandhu stadium. July 2004 in Sri Lanka India v Pakistan v Sri Lanka v Bangladesh v Hong Kong v UAE : won by Sri Lanka. Minnows Hong Kong and United Arab Emirates were included with Bangladesh joining seniors India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka in this 8th edition of asia cup. A 12 match tournament, India and Sri Lanka played finals where hosts defended smallish 228, winning by 25 runs. June 2008 in Pakistan India v Pakistan v Sri Lanka v Bangladesh v Hong Kong v UAE : won by Sri Lanka. Another 6 team 6 league game 6 super 8s game tournament but a very high scoring one where totals over 300 were chased down frequely, and Indians yet again made it finals with Sri Lanka in opposition only to lose it by 100 runs. June 2010 in Sri Lanka - 15 June - Sri Lanka v Pakistan Sri Lanka won by 16 runs 16 June - India v Bangladesh India won by 6 wickets 18 June - Sri Lanka v Bangladesh Sri Lanka won by 126 runs 19 June - India v Pakistan India won by 3 wickets 21 June - Pakistan v Bangladesh Pakistan won by 139 runs 22 June - India v Sri Lanka Sri Lanka won by 7 wickets 26th June - Sri Lanka v India Final won by SL
Answer: Sri Lanka have played in all 9 previous asia cups, and hence featured in most matches = 36. Lankans also have best win percentage = 72.22 followed by Pakistan~ go lionz grab this cup too cheers~

I mean damn, we waited over 40 years for this. Now, were on top the Football world till next Super bowl champ. And why do so many people joke about Katrina? really, that was one of the worst disasters in US history and my Uncle died in Katrina. plus, it's not our fault the media talks about it so much. @ Lauren, Thank you! @ JCB, I will im not worried it just pisses me off Saints been using "Who Dat" since '77. bengals started "Who Dey" in '83
Answer: Let them hate. We know how much this meant to us. I'll never forget that season and feel privileged to have witnessed it. So many long time Saints fans have passed and didn't get to see something this magnificent happen. And on a side note to Ryan: Any true Saints and NFL fan knows that the 2009 team was not the best team in history. Anyone who makes that claim is saying it out of jest. Or stupidity. And for the claim about Brees being in the top 10 of all time, it's not unreasonable that he may be there BY THE TIME HE RETIRES. I'm not saying he is right now but he has at least 5 maybe 7 injury free years of football left to play; he could very well vault himself into that position. Both Manning and Brady are in the top 10 of everyone's list, trust me Brees isn't too far behind. He does need at least another Super Bowl, maybe two but the talent is there.
So, Philly fans like to brag about Flyers/Penguins history, eh?
They live in the past about the Flyers historical dominance over the Penguins. Since you idiots like to live in the past, then I'll play your game with the comparisons of the Steelers/Eagles and Pirates/Phillies. Pirates World Series titles: 5 Phillies World Series titles: 2 Winner: Pirates Pirates NL Pennants: 9 Phillies NL Pennants: 7 Winner: Pirates Pirates all time record: 9835-9639 Phillies all time record: 9070-10207 Winner: Pirates Pirates and Phillies both have 9 division titles, but the Phils have won the last 3, so the Phils have more recent success. Steelers NFL Championships/Super Bowl wins: 6 Eagles NFL Championships/Super Bowl wins: 3 Winner: Steelers Steelers League/Conference championships: 7 Eagles League/Conference championships: 5 Winner: Steelers Steelers Division championships: 19 Eagles Division championships: 11 Winner: Steelers Steelers Playoff appearances: 25 Eagles Playoff appearances: 21 Winner: Steelers And even with the Flyers historical dominance, the Penguins still have 3 championships to the Flyers 2! So which is the most historic sports town? Winner: Pittsburgh Hey "4-3", how about ONE winning season from 1918-1948 for the Phillies. That one winning season being a 78-76 record in 1932. Loyal fan base? Look at these Phillies attendance numbers. 1993: 38,737 1994: 39,843 1995: 28,383 1996: 22,243 1997: 18,403 Where were those Phillies fans when they were a terrible team in the '90's? Want my source? Look for yourself. http://www.baseball-almanac.com/teams/philattn.shtml Bob: Well do you think CBP would be packed through 18 straight losing seasons? Attendance at Phillies games wouldn't be any better than what the Pirates draw now. I guarantee that. What about those "loyal" 76ers fans? Does anyone care about that team? http://espn.go.com/nba/attendance 4-3: The Steelers have a season ticket waiting list that dates back to 1972, and have sold out every single game since then. I know that's about when the Steelers got good, but the Steelers did go through some bad seasons in the 80's and late 90's, and still sold out every game. How many games have the Eagles sold out? Actually JJ, I have never reported any of your answers.
Answer: LOL, i dont need the STATS to know that Pittsburgh is better then Filthadelphia...
Has Kobe been a poor Finals performer?
Keep in mind the Finals is the biggest stage in basketball. The Super Bowl of the NBA 2000 Finals: Kobe Bryant averaged only 15ppg on 36 percent shooting. He scored two points in Game 2 and eight points in Game 5 on 4-20 shooting (20%). In the game 6 clincher Kobe went 8-27 (29% shooting). His defense on Reggie Miller was just as bad: Miller averaged 25 ppg on 48 percent shooting (both above his season averages). 2001 Finals: The Lakers were undefeated in the playoffs and were 11-0 heading into the Finals. How ever in game 1 of the Finals, Kobe was locked down by Allen Iverson and only scored 15 points on 7-22 shots (31% shooting). Iverson lite Kobe up and scored 48 points and the Lakers lost. I remember Kobe was getting owned so bad by AI in game 1 that Phil had to put Tyrone Lue on AI latter in the game. In Game 2, Phil Jackson switched Kobe to Aaron Mckie primarily for the rest of the series and Shaq had a near quadruple double saving the Lakers from going down 0-2. For the series Kobe averaged 24 points on 41% shooting. Better then his first Finals but still not great. Also he was out performed by Allen Iverson who averaged 36ppg on 41% shooting 2002 Finals: Kobe had a very good showing. He averaged 27ppg on 51% shooting, which was much better then his last two but still nothing spectacular. Also his performance was over shadowed by Shaq who averaged 36ppg 12 rebounds 4 assists and 3 blocks on 59% shooting. Shaq became the second player in NBA history to win 3 straight Finals MVP's. 2004 Finals: The infamous Pistons series. ''With his feud against Shaq escalating and the series getting away from the Lakers, Bryant began taking whatever shot struck him. Mostly, they struck the rim he shot 38% and had nearly as many turnovers (18) as assists (22) as Detroit romped in five games.'' Kobe was tired of playing second fiddle to Shaq and desired the limelight for himself. This came to a head in the 2004 Finals when Kobe made an unsuccessful bid to win the Finals MVP. He wanted the glory and his selfishness backfired coasting the Lakers the championship. Instead of feeding Shaq for the high percentage shot, Kobe continued to throw up brick after brick. Kobe hit an abysmal 38% from the field and 17% from 3. Still, Kobe persisted in taking the lead. He took a whopping 113 shots, while the hot shooting Shaq only took 84. Game 1: 10-27 Game 2: 14-27 Game 3: 4-13 Game 3: 8-25 Game 5: 7-21 Kobe selfishly chucked his team out of the Finals and refused to give Shaq the ball who made 63% of his shots. After this series Shaq and Phil Jackson left because they couldn't deal with Kobe along with the Lakers veterans Karl Malone, Gary Payton and Derek Fisher. 2008 season/Finals: After a 3 year hiatus of missing the playoffs and getting knocked out the first round the Lakers management fixed Kobe's mess. The Lakers brought Phil Jackson back and the got super star big man Pau Gasol for Kwame 'draft bust' Brown. Kobe started playing team ball and they were clicking on all cylinders with a big 3 in Kobe, Gasol and Odom. As the team leader Kobe was in the Finals for the first time. How ever in the series Kobe averaged 26ppg on 40% shooting. In a pivotal game 4 as the team leader, Kobe allowed his team to blow a 24 point lead while losing. In the 6th and deciding game of the Finals Kobe allowed the Lakers to lose by 39 points. He went 7-22 from the field on had 1 assist, 4 turn overs & 0 points in the 4th quarter as the rival Boston Celtics win the championship. 2009 Finals: Kobe finally won his first Finals MVP and wins his first championship as the leader of his team. Kobe averaged 32ppg 5 rebounds and 7 assists on 43% shooting. Very good showing but it still wasn't anything 'on the next level' or historical especially considering he went against a inexperienced Orlando team and was guarded mainly by a rookie named Courtney Lee and Mickael Pietrus, which is why I have a problem putting him up there with all time greats. He has only played great in 1 out of 7 Finals he's been in and he only has 1 ring as 'the man' and only 1 Finals MVP. What do you guys think? I know its kind of long but its worth the read. C'mon your attention span can't be that short.
Answer: Are you a kobe hater. WIthout him they wouldnt even be in the finals any year. Everyone always says kobe wouldnt have won a championship without shaq its the other way around, actually. shaq needed penny hardaway, kobe, and dwayne wade to go to the finals. And LeBron to go to the playoffs this year.
