This is a meeting that we have every two weeks. James Coyne's study group starts at 6pm and lasts for one hour. At around 7:10 or so we start the meeting. We always have a very informational meeting. We do not sit around and gossip, we get things done. We are an active group, because you have to be active to get things done. We have had special guest speakers with many more to come. We have had News paper reporters come and do an article on the group, we even had one from London come and do a piece on the group so we will be featured in the same article with Sarah Palin. This group is free, there is no charge for meetings but we do take donations to help build our treasury! The place where the meeting takes place is at the Columbia Area Senior Center on Business Loop 70 in Columbia. Hope to see you at one of our many meetings
Hopey Changey ThingsSarah Palin's recent barb "How's that hopey changey thing workin' out for ya?" sent a penetrating, shrill, cynical and knowing shot to the heart of our country's public life. Deep divides surround fundamental concerns such as the health of capitalism, the role of government in relation to individual liberties, desires for social justice and sustainability, and belief in the free market. Our political discourse wielded to address such rifts, however is fraught with useless oppositions. In a political landscape where gamesmanship trumps dialogue, contemporary art makes space for openness, belief, hope and change rooted in an authentic attempt to understand what our world is, and what it could be. The exhibition HOPEY CHANGEY THINGS believes that artists enliven our democracy in ways that our political structures delude. HOPEY CHANGEY THINGS celebrates artists who transform places, communities and subjective histories. Plato thought artists disturbed social order by traversing classes, yet their unique ability to infiltrate social structures allows omniscient perspectives. Artists have long harbored utopian impulses, both in creating the dream and digging through its ruins; however the current collapse of political and economic structures has rendered normalcy exotic. The artists in this exhibition have adopted a kind of radical pragmatism; their sense of wonder is tempered by making do with what's at hand to produce work of subtle and sweeping import for their worlds. HOPEY CHANGEY THINGS traces myriad ways artists understand their place in the world, carve new ways out of existing problems, and reframe the symptoms of our present condition. Including highly personal forms of documentation, social and community interventions, and works that re-imagine our shared public sphere, the exhibition triangulates three positions: apocalytic urgency, the right of an individual or community to re-envision their place, and a gleeful acceptance of the absurdity of our current moment. There is benevolent danger in the way art can bring us to our culture's frayed edges, places of lurid complexity and renewed possibility. These artists are not rogue figures; they pare down the extremism of our political life to ask large questions and form hyper-rational answers. It is a beautiful contradiction to find political frontiers in the normality of artists. Art and artists can do something new for our public life, because not much else can. HOPEY CHANGEY THINGS is organized by Hesse McGraw, Bemis Center curator.

Sarah Palin questions & answers
She is smart, intelligent and well-experienced politician, totally unlike Sarah Palin. I admire and support her...If she runs for any office, I'll definitely vote for her.
Answer: Apparently behind the scenes she was being prepped to run with McCain, until they went with Palin, who the powers-that-be considered more of a popular choice. That's a rumor though, as publicly she stated that she had no interested in running. Last I saw anything on her, she was playing -she's a concert pianist- with ... I want to say Aretha Franklin for some charity events... something to that effect anyway. If the rumors are true, we may see her reemerge for 2012. She would definitely have my vote. I would love to see her as the first female in office.
Did Governor Jan Brewer get her debate prep advice from Sarah Palin (except the writing on your hand part)?
Answer: She can see Mexico from her house. (Hopefully she will quit as governor soon, for the good of her state)
Is it true that Sarah Palin only does vetted interviews with pre-screened questions, ever since Katie Couric?
Following the disastrous interviews Palin did with Katie Couric & Charles Gibson, she was exposed as being a bimbo that had very little knowledge & intelligence. Prior to these interviews, I, along with most people, assumed she was legitimately an intelligent person that has a grasp of the issues. She gave wrong answers on what a Vice President does, didn't know what Hamas was, couldn't say anything about Bush's Doctrine, thinks Vladimir Putin is flying planes through Alaskan airspace, couldn't name one Supreme Court case, and other embarrassing answers. Then afterwards tried to claim they were "gotcha journalism" questions. I'm sorry, but I don't see what's "gotcha" about asking a person what the role of the Vice President is. Or what newspapers you read. How is that difficult to answer? Is it true that she will not do any interviews from now on where she will be challenged? She only does Fox interviews where she gets buttered up and has her ass kissed. Even in the non-challenging interviews, Sarah Palin has been exposed. She couldn't name the Founding Fathers when Glenn Beck asked her who her favorite Founding Father was. She just said "all of them". Nancy: Oh, kind of like the interview he did with Bill O'Reilly here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_753sLQQ8q8 And the interview he did with Fox as President here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URJUSlfTgGU
Answer: I think she did her best in her role as Gov. of Alaska (well, till she quit- WTF??) Perhaps she was not used to the media in general and wasn't fully prepared- but, she should have been. Even if she feels it's "gotcha journalism" she needed to be prepared for it. Vetting interviews and insisting on prescreened questions will be detrimental to her cause.
If Sarah Palin was born in the US why won't she release the long form of her birth certificate?
I hear she is Russian and was smuggled across the border. Why won't she provide a link and put these rumors to rest once and for all?
Answer: Wooooooohoooooo love it !!!!!!!!!!!!

Is Sarah Palin A Christian?
Apparently, some of her own children have thier doubts. Sometimes the children rebelled. A campaign aide remembers that one of the Palin children found her mother’s public displays of piety especially grating. Though Palin prayed and read the Bible every night, aides never saw the family join her for devotionals. “You’re just putting on a show. You’re so fake,” one of the children said when Palin made a point of praying in front of other people. “This is not who you are. Why are you pretending to be something you’re not?”
Answer: Its between her and God. i have my doubts since she is worried about people putting curses on her. Any true Christian knows that it can't be done. What bothers me more are people who profit from pretending to be a christian like Sean Hannity.
What specifically makes conservatives think liberals are "scared" of Sarah Palin?
Conservatives on YA have frequently claimed that liberals are "scared" or "frightened" of Sarah Palin. Fear of a person typically leads to avoidance of that person. Do liberals avoid talking about Sarah Palin altogether? Do they speak of her in hushed tones? Or do they talk about her frequently and loudly? I suppose that if Sarah Palin.... (1) had stated that she intends to run for President or any other office in 2012; AND (2) could show clear evidence that she would defeat Obama in a Presidential race or some other candidate in some other race, ...then there might be some "fear" of Sarah Palin floating around. But she's never said she intends to run for office. The last time she HELD office, she quit halfway through her term. She is going to have a "reality" TV series on a cable channel soon--a pretty clear indicator that a run for President is not in her immediate future. What exactly is provoking this claim that liberals "fear" Palin? It can't be the way we mock and deride her. You don't mock and deride someone you fear. And if mockery and derision are signs of fear, wouldn't we have to conclude that conservatives are very afraid of Barack Obama? Reasoned responses please: What is the evidence that liberals "fear" Sarah Palin.
Answer: Shhhh. I'm going rogue. Here's is the truth on Sarah Palin. We libs are not scared of her. On the contrary. Cons simply say that we are because they know what a complete disaster Palin is and they feel that they have to say at least something in her defense. Thus, for lack of anything better, they say "afraid." The cons with half a brain cell know we aren't. The truth is that if anybody is really afraid of Palin, it is ironically mainstream cons themselves who fear that she might actually get nominated for something again. That scares the living daylight out of them. And, it should. Most American voters know what a complete idiot Palin is. The truth is that we libs hope that the cons will be so full of themselves and overconfident (all as usual) by 2012 that they will actually be stupid and self-deluded enough to nominate her for president. Which, of course, will guarantee the reelection of Obama. PALIN IN 2012!
Republicans: If the primary was today, would you vote for Romney, Palin, Gingrich, Ron Paul Pawlenty or other?
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0910/41673.html 17 percent of the 805 Alaska Republicans surveyed by Public Policy Polling said they would back Palin in a 2012 GOP primary, the same percentage who voiced support for former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee. Romney led the field, garnering 20 percent. “Fortunately for Sarah Palin, Alaska decides few convention delegates, and coming more than a month after Super Tuesday, she may not survive the race to be embarrassed on her home turf,” said Dean Debnam, president of Public Policy Polling. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has the support of 16 percent of Alaska Republicans, placing him in fourth. Ten percent of those surveyed said they would support Texas Rep. Ron Paul, and 20 percent were either undecided or would back another candidate not listed in the poll. The survey was conducted Aug. 27-28 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
Answer: Ron Paul. If any of those other people you mentioned win the Primaries I will vote for Obama again. Ron Paul is my #1 choice.
If sarah palin does run for president in the 2012 election will you vote for her?
Im a republican and i for one will not vote for palin if she does decide to run for president. i do not think she is fit to run this country. She has very little political experience you cant go from the mayor of a small city wasilla which holds 7,000 people and governing alaska to run this country, all her interviews are horrible its like she does not even know what she is talking bout she is all over the board. do you really want a hockey mom to run for this country and dont get me wrong i would like too see our first female president just like i liked too see obama take office. like matt damon says its like a crappy disney movie some hockey mom from alaska running for president plus she thinks the world was only around for 3000 years and there were no dinosaurs???????? and then again to the female george w bush thing yes american voters can be foolish but then again its not like our vote counts what so ever we just have the popular vote which means absolutly nothing about who gets the presidency th electoral college votes matter
Answer: I'll be laughing too hard to make it to the polls. Only in America could a bimbo like Palin get any attention on a serious level. Anywhere else she'd have just been another quickly worn out little tart--rather like "Bristols" (Cockney slang for t^ts!), her semi-legitimate daughter.
Would you vote for a Sarah Palin/Mike Huckabee ticket for 2012?
Answer: Hahahahahaahaha. Damn, good one!
