Answer: The photograph you linked to is not a new picture, it was taken by the Apollo 10 astronauts in 1969. The rille in the picture is Rima Ariadaeus. The second link describes its dimensions and how it was likely formed. NASA has already released several images taken by the the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter showing leftover Apollo hardware on the Moon. See the last link. I'm not sure why you're unsatisfied with these pictures. Such pictures will not shut conspiracy theorists up. They're stubbornly determined to believe in an Apollo hoax no matter how much evidence exists to prove them wrong.

Answer: To reinforce our insignificance. Human arrogance is almost unlimited, but contemplating our place in the universe SHOULD tamp it down.

i want to know that when we look through hubble telescope we see millions of galaxy! but i want to know that can there be a planet with life which is not located in a galaxy! does not have a solar system and also does not move around the sun! just like most of the star it stays still like proxima centauri or something? can it be?

Answer: It is possible for stars to exist outside galaxies, and they could have planets orbiting them. Some of those planets could be habitable. It is also possible for lone planets to be drifting through space and not orbiting any star. Those lone planets could also exist outside any galaxy. Such a planet would be extremely cold because it has no nearby star to be its sun and would be in permanent darkness, so it could not support life.

Answer: Because the colors were balanced to make it look like the colors we see in small telescopes. The human eye is tricky when light levels are low. Mars is mostly a mix of red, orange and beige, with a bit of white. However, our eyes, at low level, rely a lot of the rods, which are far more sensible, but provide your brain with luminosity information, without color information (i.e., things look neutral gray). Mars is also bright enough for the cones to provide some color info, and that is mostly reddish. Therefore, by contrast, our brain interprets the colorless rod data as "bluish". That picture was "balanced" to provide the same impression, but at a high level of light intensity (meaning = it will trigger the real blue color of the shorter cones and make some areas look really blue). --- There are clouds, there are sand storms, there are ice caps... The ice caps are the whitest objects (which could look blue through a small telescope). --- The same problem exists for faint nebula: the most sensible cones in our eyes are the ones sensible to green. That is why almost all the early observation reports of nebulae indicated green as the dominant color. When the same nebulae are photographed with large telescopes, we see all kinds of other colors in the images, because the film (or the CCD camera) is equally sensible to all colors.

Wouldn't it allow people to see even more, with higher definition? Would it allow people to actally see exoplanets (we can't see a lot of them)?

Answer: They are building bigger telescopes like the james webb space telescope that is going to be launched in 2014. As for the second question, no matter how big a telescope, it can't see an exoplanet because it is so small that it wil be lost in the parent star's glare. They can only detect it when the star wobbles due to the gravitational attraction of the planets, or when the star dims when a planet transits it.

Answer: Hubble is ALWAYS pointed away from the sun. This means that it cannot image the sun, mercury or venus. People should do some research rather that simply offering inaccurate opinions as answers!

If you say that it's too vague, then it means that you are not literate/intellectual enough to squeeze out the meaning of the verse by relating it to the world that surrounds you. It is mentioned in the Quran: Yet, astonishingly well before telescopes were even invented and well before Hubble published his Law, Prophet Muhammad used to recite a verse of the Quran to his companions that ultimately stated that the universe is expanding. “And the heaven We created with might, and indeed We are (its) expander.” (Quran 51:47) “He (God) is the Originator of the heavens and the earth…” (Quran 6:101) “Is not He who created the heavens and the earth Able to create the likes of them? Yes; and He is the Knowing Creator. His command is only when He intends a thing that He says to it, ‘Be,’ and it is.” (Quran 36:81-82) The above verses prove that the universe had a beginning, that God was behind its creation, and all that God needs to do inorder to create is to say “Be,” and it is. Could this be an explanation as to what triggered off the explosion that brought about the beginning of the universe? The Quran also mentions: “Have those who disbelieved not considered that the heavens and the earth were a joined entity, then We separated them, and made from water every living thing? Then will they not believe?” (Quran 21:30) Muslim scholars who have explained the previous verse mention that the heavens and earth were once one, and then God caused them to separate and form into the seven heavens and Earth. Yet, due to the limitations of science and technology at the time of the revelation of the Quran (and for centuries to follow), no scholar was able to give much detail about how exactly the heavens and earth were created. What the scholars could explain was the precise meaning of each word in Arabic in the verse, as well as the overall meaning of the verse. In the previous verse, the Arabic words ratq and fataq are used. The word ratq can be translated into “entity” “sewn to” “joined together” or “closed up”. The meaning of these translations all circulate around something that is mixed and that has a separate and distinct existence. The verb fataq is translated into “We unstitched” “We clove them asunder” “We separated” or “We have opened them”. These meanings imply that something comes into being by an action of splitting or tearing apart. The sprouting of a seed from the soil is a good example of a similar illustration of the meaning of the verb fataq. With the introduction of the Big Bang theory, it soon became clear to Muslim scholars that the details mentioned with regards to the theory go identically hand in hand with the description of the creation of the universe in verse 30 of chapter 21 of the Quran. The theory states that all the matter in the universe came into existence from one single extremely hot and dense point; that exploded and brought about the beginning of the universe, matches what is mentioned in the verse that the heaven and Earth (thus the universe) where once joined together, and then split apart. Answer: I think it's quite funny that nobody who answered has addressed the actual statements. People are quick to insult the religion (even when theirs has been proven to be contradictory in the case of Christianity) but won't give an explanation. There are many statements like the one you posted which have been shown to be accurate and could not have been known at that time. Answer: Astronomy is a science - the study of the universe. The Hubble Telescope has aided astronomers greatly in their knowledge of the universe. Astrology is the "study" of how the placement of the planets can affect your life, completely unscientific and for dreamers - that's why your daily horoscope has always been and will always be vague.

I don't know anyone who is a christian anymore. I've gotten into many conversations about the origin of life and the universe etc. With so many discoveries made by hubble would you say it is a main cause for the decline in Christianity?

Answer: All religions carry within their dogmas the seeds of their own destruction.

Answer: They will be lauching the James Webb Space Telescope to replace Hubble and this will be in 2014. Usually the goverment ends up cutting checks and pushing dates so I wouldn't be suprised if it launched in 2025! But seriously 2014
