If you aren't familiar with Gafunkel & Oates they are an LA-based off beat comedy/music duo made up of actresses Riki Lindhome (Last House on the Left, My Best Friend's Girl) and Kate Micucci (Scrubs, When in Rome). CNN did a piece on the group because their song, "Sex with Ducks", was causing debates in the political blogosphere. They were asked to perform with the legendary John Oates (Hall & Oates), they have an ongoing show at Upright Citizens Brigade in LA and they were a stand out at the 2009 Montreal Comedy Festival. Answer: A lot of your list (Santana, Switchfoot, Mayer, Branch, Muse, etc.) is very similar to my girlfriend's favorite music. So maybe you'd like some of the other stuff she does as well! • The Killers (similar to Muse.) • Flyleaf (similar to Switchfoot, but with female lead.) • Jakob Dylan (similar to John Mayer, but more folksy.) • Counting Crows (similar to Matchbox Twenty, but Rob Thomas' voice sounds unsimilar to Adam Duritz'.) 25 years ago, there was an amazing concert at Philly's JFK Stadium that about 99,000 people attended. I am proud to say that my parents went to Live Aid :) and I have my mom's tee shirt :) They told me it was the best concert they ever went to. It was extremely hot, there were ambulances around the stadium for people who passed out from the heat. And everywhere you looked, there was a sea of people. There was also a Live Aid in Wembley Stadium in UK that 72,000 people attended. There was an amazing line-up. Guitarists and bassists tend to like to move around a lot while playing. Even if they don't, they still can. A keyboardist can as well, if they happen to be using a keytar. But what about the backbone of the band, the drummer? I've seen one of the ladies in the B-52s using bongos, and I heard a tambourine in the background of Hall & Oates' "Rich Girl$", but I know that can't be it. So what else is there? For the record, the Zendrum doesn't count. It's technically a drum kit, but in synthesizer form. I have really eclectic taste... I'm not necessarily looking for *similar* music, but if you like some of the same artists/bands as me, maybe recommend some of your other favourites (: Here are some of my favourites: Hall & Oates, Taylor Swift, Michael Bublé, Owl City, Two Hours Traffic, The Clash, the soundtrack to Glee, John Mayer, The Zombies, Michael Jackson and Ingrid Michaelson. I like pretty much any genre except for heavy metal, screamo type music, rap and those dumb r&b songs that are soooo popular today, but don't make sense and are sexist, rude, have a lot of swearing, etc. Artists I dislike (don't ask why... I either have tons of reasons or I just don't like them: Lady GaGa, Kesha, Paramore, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Jayson Derulo, Justin Bieber and Katy Perry (mainstream stuff, I guess? I don't hate it because it's mainstream, though!) So, any ideas? I can appreciate the music I mentioned I didn't like. I listen to Lady GaGa and Paramore and R&B with my friends, but when I'm painting or am by myself, I prefer the other music I mentioned. There is a difference between appreciating and disliking. I can appreciate that Lady Gaga's sound is pretty unique and pretty awesome, but I dislike it.
