My First Day Of High School The day I started high school changed my views on teaching, people, judgement and friendship entirely. Coming from Primary School, a place where learning was so effortless, enjoyable, and uncomplicated. The problems that you would experience would only be as simple as someone stealing a pencil, or a friend excluding you from a ball game. High School is so much more dramatic. Its when reality takes a change in your life, life will become more technical and difficult to manage. The problems will start to change to more adolescent things, such as drugs, sex, education, popularity, futures, etc. You become more mature, you have to start to accept what life holds for you, your life will be like a roller coaster. When I first walked into high school It felt like I was walking into a whole different world. I was so anxious. Everybody in the rows of lines sitting in the hall were staring at every single year eight that passed down the hall. It was so difficult to even concentrate where I was going, I was so fidgety, It was so hard to keep still with the whole school eyeing on you, their eyes budging out to examine you, it was like you were being judged for some sort of modeling competition. A few people in front of me tripped into each other, I watched as the crowd slowly gazed towards them and fell into tears of laughter. It made me feel slightly better that I wasn't one of them, because that was there first impression of themselves to everyone else. As the weeks, of year eight, started to slow down, the whole school had learnt to accept us, but they still had more power. Over the time, the friends would move into different groups, and these were the times when i understood how cruel and complex life had turned itself into. Everyone of those year eights had a whole different life coming here. I learnt how shallow and insecure some people could be, when I would see the "low status" ones who weren't good enough to talk to the more "high status" people all because one one word, popularity. This honestly made me think, of how one official label could completely change your life. They had to live with that for the next 5 years of their lives. There were then the rumors, speaking of sex, alcohol, drugs,there was always some who had experienced it, were beginning to experience, the gossip, the lies, the hurt, the hate, the love.. the school had it all. This is now part where i say how it made an impact on my life. Before I came to high school looks would always come before personality, no matter who it was, a teacher, a friend, a relative. I would always judge them by what I saw, and If I didn't admire to what I saw, I wouldn't have any interest. By seeing this harsh act been hurtfully done directly to others, or at times myself, entirely changed my views towards people. Because If you take the time to get to know someone, they will be most likely better than the person who may be "better looking" or someone who has a better "label". I learned that friends, can be dis-honest, they can be hateful, in order to get something they want. I truly learned the quote "It matters whats on the inside, not the out."
